PULLEYS & CABLE GUARDS

PULLEYS ~ Used to guide cables and change the direction of cable

movement

~ Used to support straight 'runs' of cables for long distance

~ When adjusting control cable, it is important the cable end

fittings do not foul the pulley, otherwise cable movement

will be restricted

~ Pulley bearings are sealed and need lubrication

TYPES of PULLEYS;

• Metallic – Used with high tension, high temperature and

hazardous environment conditions

• Non Metallic

CABLE GUARDS

~ Cables passing pulleys are kept in place by guards

~ Guard are close fitting to prevent jamming or to prevent

cables from slipping out when cable slakes due to

temperature variation or maintenance purposes
