LOCKCLAD & MEASURING Of CABLES

• Used on some large aircraft for all long straight runs.

• It consists of the conventional flexible cable with aluminium

tubing swagged to it to lock the cable inside the tubing.

• Advantages:

• Changes in tension due to temperature changes are less.

• The amount of stretch for a given load is less.

• Diameter of flexible cable is determined by;

• The diameter of the thread (wire)

• The number of threads • The cable measured with vernier callipers

• Most aircraft maintenance mechanic use vernier callipers with wide measuring jaws
